HISTORY

HpM (Hephaestus Metals) is rooted in a long-standing industrial tradition originating in the Brazilian metallurgical sector. Its foundations trace back to 1967, with a family-owned industrial group founded by José Loureiro dos Santos, active in metallurgy, steel foundry, and steelmaking.

In the early 2000s, research and development initiatives led by Victor Loureiro dos Santos redirected this legacy toward applied innovation, focusing on mineral processing and the recovery of valuable materials from steelmaking residues.

In collaboration with researchers from Fundação Gorceix, these efforts evolved from laboratory research to industrial-scale applications.

A strategic reorganization in 2010 led to the creation of HpM, fully dedicated to circular economy solutions for heavy industry.

Today, HpM operates at the intersection of industrial heritage and applied science, delivering proprietary technologies protected in major steel-producing countries worldwide.
